The Consensual Dispute Resolution Competition (CDRC)
Transition from Dispute Resolution to Dispute Management

Consensual Dispute Resolution – The Dispute Resolution of a New Generation

The rise of Consensual Dispute Resolution (CDR) processes such as mediation and negotiation mark a new era of party driven dispute handling and will play a critical role in the dispute resolution field of the future. The International Bar Association, the Vienna International Arbitral Centre and the European Law Student’s Association have established an international student competition for Consensual Dispute Resolution – the CDRC Vienna.

The Competition – Negotiators Meet Mediators

The competition simulates legal negotiations with the support of a mediator. Students compete against each other by negotiating a series of real world legal problems based on the case of the Willem C. Vis Moot. The competition is focused on the students’ ability to utilize negotiation and mediation skills and strategies to successfully negotiate or mediate a settlement that best serves the needs of the parties.

International Advisory Board

The CDRC International Advisory Board supports the competition with expertise, diverse professional insights and networks, and new perspectives for development and growth.
